Kind and compassionate training

St Giles Animal Centre provides dog behaviour and training services. We work with all sizes and breeds of dog, specialising in reactive, rescued and re-homed dogs.

We strive to work with dogs and their guardians to build in appropriate alternatives to undesirable behaviours this, in turn, will help improve the relationships we have with our pets in a kind and practical way.

1-2-1 sessions

We charge £40 per session (approx one hour).
Mileage is £1 per mile from St Giles Animal Centre to your home address.

Join us for a fun and friendly puppy course at St Giles Animal Centre

Komala joined the team in 2021 as our training & behaviorist here at the Centre. She has completed her canine psychology course to distinction level, an in-depth puppy development and training course through The School of Canine Science, as well as the 30 Days of Canine Science course that focused on the theory and application of dog training. She also has experience working in a kennel setting in canine care and behavior. She a great asset to the team and works very closely with our Rescue animals.

Lisa joined as cremation and dog warden assistant in 2024 and has now moved over to Dog Training in 2025.

Initially, Lisa completed a degree in Animal Behaviour and Training, and then for over 10 years and has been working in animal rescues with her main interest being working with problem behaviours in pet dogs.

Having taken on a rescue dog who had reactivity, separation anxiety and socialisation issues, I empathise with owners who need help with their dog’s behaviour and enjoy problem solving and guiding them to improve their communication and relationship with their dog.

Dealing with Canine Behaviour Problems

We look at your pet's behaviour problems – their causes and solutions. We also look at various alternative therapies that may be considered in conjunction with behaviour modification.

Human Behaviour

We look at the human role in behaviour problems and how lifestyle can influence dog behaviour.

Play and Exercise

Play and exercise can influence behaviour. We look at how we can use play, mental stimulation and environmental enrichment to improve unwanted behaviour.

Reinforcement Training

Clicker training is also covered. Please note, we only support force free training methods.

The best money I have ever spent. It has made so much difference in understanding my dog, priceless information and advice.

We sadly were having jealousy issues with our 10 month old puppy directed as aggressive behaviour towards our older dog. We sort advice from the Rescue where she came from to see if there was any help and advice which could be provided. Ros took the time to understand the issues as we saw them and arranged a home visit. Ros helped identify areas in the home as well as our behaviour which could be having an effect with changes to implement. The situation didn’t improve hugely so we decided to try to break the cycle with some time apart for the dogs. Ros worked with our younger dog intensively for this time. We are currently happy and safe in the home and confident with the measures Ros has helped us implement that this will improve further with time. Ros supported me a lot with how I felt about the situation and the fear and stress it was causing me, which in turn was further adding to the issues as the dogs were clearing picking up on it. Without both the practical and emotional support we wouldn’t still have our younger dog and we will be forever grateful for this. We look forward to working with Ros further next year.
